Pernicious morning

Reveals no clue of forecast

Just foreboding gray

Or golden tongues

Of sunlight fair yet fickle

How dare I face you

Matching witlessness

Against craft, guile, deception?

Yet I will, I must

It simply is thus

No point exists in questions

And so you lure me

Out into the world

Using the siren voices

Of my own nature

The thoughts bounce

Around my head

Like so many drunken fish

Attacking their reflections

In a bowl.

Thud, thud, thud

They smack against the wall

Until they float,

Exhausted,

Belly-up

To the surface.

//

SUNFLOWERS

Tall

Bright yellow

Circles pointing skyward

The laughing

Freckled girl

Runs

Carefree

Among the slender,

Fragile stalks
